What is University of Tsukuba?

University of Tsukuba is one of the most famous national universities in Japan. 

As a member of 10 designated national universities by the Japanese government starting in 2020, University of Tsukuba is expected to emerge from the framework of the domestic competitive environment and compete with the world’s leading universities in an internationally competitive environment, actively disseminate concrete results of initiatives that contribute to social and economic development and play a role as a promoter of national university reform

We are working hard to achieve this goal by 2040: 

– strategic and effective initiatives to realize a virtuous cycle of attracting outstanding human resources

– strengthening research capabilities, and gaining recognition and support from society

– reliably implement these initiatives

We proposed the Tsukuba score in the breast sonography to evaluate the stiffness of breast nodules with the strain elastography. Many world-leading pieces of research were published in our department.

Big data repository of medical imaging and patient information

Since 2007, medical imaging data in CT, MRI, Nuclear medicine, sonography, and interventional radiology is gathering into the PACS server. In 2020, an anonymized data conversion server was established, loading medical data from PACS system.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

University of Tsukuba is famous for computer science. For the science field, three novel prize winners belong to our university. In our campus, there are some research bases: Center for Artificial Intelligence Research, Center for computational sciences, Research and Development Center for Precision Medicine and etc. Our radiology department also equipped the machine server with high-spec GPUs.

Master course and Ph.D. course

We welcome foreign students to join our master’s program or Ph.D. program. MEXT program and our special program about scholarships are prepared for foreign students.
